ANSWER: Not always, but most home owners could use a little guidance when preparing their home to sell!
The point of staging a home is to prepare it for buyers to have a welcoming experience when they walk in the front door. How do you do that? Well, keep the purpose of their visit in mind...they are trying to find a home that THEY will live in, so taking "YOU" out of the home is crucial...I like to put it this way, "move YOU out so THEY can move in - IN THEIR HEAD"...they have to imagine themselves and their belongings in your home, but it's really hard to do that when you have a lot of personal things sitting around!
Don't get me wrong! Photos of family everywhere, the kids beautiful drawings on the refrigerator, as well as having collections out and about make us ALL happy!! But, those things are PERSONAL. This is where you get into the INTERIOR DESIGN of a home. The DESIGN should reflect the homeowner's personality and their desires. STAGING should not! When you STAGE, you want a 'generic' look...think of a hotel room as an example. When you walk into a hotel room, it has a relaxed and welcoming feel. It's clean, has the basic necessities, and is decorated tastefully, but not PERSONALLY and not cluttered!!! That is the goal of staging your home to sell!! And, I am trained to do that!
Let me ask you a question: Have you ever had a realtor stage your home? I don't mean that they refer a stager, who charges you a fee to stage your home, but your actual REALTOR going in, helping you de-clutter, rearranging your accessories, and adding to those accessories with some fresh new styles, helping you pack up PERSONAL belongings, and STAGING your home at no cost to you?
I'm going to guess that your answer is "NO". But, guess what? I will stage YOUR HOME (using your furniture) and it will cost you NOTHING! If your home is empty, I can still do minimal staging, but I don't have the ability to store a lot of furniture and move it in and out of your home. But, I will definitely give it some life and character!!
I like to sell homes quickly because YOU always get the best price when people make offers on your home soon after it is listed...If a home looks great (due to having a professional photographer taking photos of your beautifully staged home), and if it is priced RIGHT, people will come from all over to see it! And, remember, you only get one chance to make a great first impression! Let's take the time to list your home RIGHT!!
TIP: When you are interviewing Realtors to sell your home, ask them if they will stage your home with your belongings, as well as some fresh and new accessories, to help you prepare your home for a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER which helps to make your property sell quickly at a great price! And, if they won't stage your home for FREE? Call ME, because I will!
